A Waterford man is under investigation for allegedly shooting a deer within the township.
Waterford police reported they were contacted the week of Oct. 6 by a resident living on Clayburn Blvd., which is south of Elizabeth Lake Road and east of Lochaven.
The neighborhood backs up to an area where the Clinton River winds through a large section of woods.
The resident said she had been walking her dog when she saw a blood trail. Police contacted the Department of Natural Resources and at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, police and DNR officials located a man and a dead deer.
Waterford does not allow hunting with firearms in the township, except where permitted on state land, according to the code of ordinances, section 11-331.
DNR conservation officials are continuing the investigation.
