THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Forest Department along with their flying squad took a woman into the custody for allegedly buying the elephant tusk from the suspected Ivory mafia. The woman is identified as Soja. According to the officials, the housewife bought the stuff from the person after evaluating the weight. She had reportedly bought it for Rs 40,000 for a single kilogram. We received enough evidence that she had bought the ivory. It is also learnt that her husband had gone absconding since we began the investigation,” a police official said.
Earlier, two persons were arrested in connection with possessing and buying ivories. They were identified as Chakka Ravi and Reji of Kuttampuzha. Reji is said to be the elephant poacher.
