The Chinese government has donated equipment worth over KSh 80 million to the Narok County government to combat poaching in Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
This comes barely 2 weeks after President Uhuru Kenyatta traveled to china and signed a 425 billion deal with the populous country.
The Narok County Government and Chongqin City Municipal government of the People’s Republic of china signed agreements geared towards protecting wildlife and improving tourism in Kenya.
The two parties entered into a donation agreement in a ceremony at Keekorok Lodge in Maasai Mara witnessed by the Minister of Environment Prof Judi Wakhungu, Environment PS Richard Lesiampe and his commerce and East African affairs and Tourism Ibrahim Mohammed counterpart.
The Chinese delegation was led by his Excellency, Sun Zhengcai , the member of the political Bureu of the central committee of the communist party (CPC) and also the secretary of the Chongqing city
Speaking on the behalf of the Secretary of the Chongqing city, the Councilor of the Chinese Emasy to Kenya Mr. Cao said the Chinese government is against poaching of wildlife and especially elephants and denied claims that china is a market for Ivory from African countries.
He noted that wildlife products like ivory should be condemned and people should all join hands and protect the wildlife and the Environment. More....
