Authorities in Vietnam arrested a man who they say was transporting 53 king cobras in his car, reports the Associated Press.
The man said has was paid to transport the snakes, which are considered a delicacy by some in Vietnam and are sometimes used for traditional medicine.
Police arrested the man and took the snakes to a wildlife rescue center in Hanoi. The reptiles will eventually be released back into the wild.
The king cobra is the world's longest venomous snake, attaining a length of up to 18 feet (5.5 meters). The species is found widely across South and Southeast Asia, but is protected by law in Vietnam.
