Concerned stakeholders in the district have stepped up efforts to stop poaching of birds in the Jagadishpur Lake area.
Two people have been deployed to give information about poaching of the birds , said Chief District Forest Officer Krishna Prasad Pokharel.
Local people said that many birds of various species were found dead in the lake area in the district lately. They said a total of 35 birds of Marul, Sindhure and Dubulki species were found dead in past two days. Marul and Sindhure birds migrated to the area from Siberia. Lalit Gurung, member of the Jagadhish Lake Conservation Forum, said people killed the birds by poisoning them. Pokharel said they are searching for poachers and will take action them.
