White rhinos have are under threat of poaching considering its market value. So, the US Fish and Wildlife Service has placed it under threatened species category according to the Endangered Species Act.
The unprotected species of rhinos would be caressed under the new protection rule. This rule presently protects species such as black, Sumatran, Indian, and Javan from poaching. Poaching is a biggest thorn for the state officials as their efforts fall on floor because of the horrible act.
According to the details provided by the statistics department, the southern white rhinos are not under threat like its other cousins. However, they desire to take an effective step to preserve the species.
There are a multitude of white rhino species that have been harbored in South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. Other rhinos have been under huge threat. Some examples for the same are Javan rhino, which are only 35 in number.
Considering the same, earlier it was thought that the white rhino can obliterated from the threatened species list but the conservationists opposed the move.
If the species would have been placed out of the list, there would have been chances where traffickers would have passed clean by saying that they are white rhino horns. This could have been all the more difficult to control as the person in charge would have failed to be distinguished from the other horns.
