Sosian ward representative Jacob Edom said, the thieves, all armed with AK 47 guns stole four cows. Edom said they also stole Shs 10,000, mobile phones and clothes from Joseph
Ng'ang'a, 57 at Kianjogu area during the 7.30 Pm incident. "They sprayed the homestead with over 40 bullets before stealing" Edom said. Kiliama was treated at Survey dispensary before being transferred to Nyahururu district hospital. The ward representative blamed the pastoralists from the neighbouring counties who have been given grazing fields in Laikipia for the cattle rustling incidents witnessed in the county lately.
"They have been taking our generosity for foolishness. Whenever they are given grazing areas in Laikipia they must steal our animals while going back" lamented Edom. He said that last Sunday, a flock of 12 sheep were stolen from the area but were later recovered.
Edom also blamed statements uttered by a section of leaders from Samburu and Isiolo counties few weeks ago at a meeting in Kanampiu area in Laikipia County, where they said herders from their regions must given grazing fields in Laikipia due to persistent drought in their counties. He said it was wrong to forcefully demand the resources, which include water, saying such statements should not come from an elected leader.
