The illegal trade of exotic animals in Asia is again under scrutiny after two Japanese men were caught attempting to smuggle lizards out of Australia.
The men were charged after authorities at Perth airport in Western Australia found 30 native lizards in their checked baggage.
While customs have been praised for the seizure, a leading wildlife organisation says bilateral operations need to be improved to prevent the illegal flow of exotic wildlife to Asia.
