A police officer and a civilian were arraigned in a Kisii Court on charges of being in possession of ivory worth Sh1.5 million. The officer identified as David Onyango Obura and his accomplice, Evans Olwando Oduor, were found in possession of 5 pieces of Ivory weighing a total of 15 kg at Kilima Pesa in Transmara, Narok County on The 29th of November this year. They are also facing charges of illegally being in possession of parts of animals belonging to the government and failing to report to the government their possession of the said items. The two have since denied all the three counts. They were released on a bond of 500,000 shillings each. The case will be heard on 19th of January next year. Video.
