A warning for farmers to be vigilant of their cattle after a spate of rustling in the lower North Island.
Shannon police say there have been three thefts from farms in their area over the past month.
In each case, six calves were taken from paddocks and driven away in a trailer.
Constable Charlie Rudd says calves are relatively small and docile and the offenders may have simply lifted them onto the trailer.
He also believes there may be other cattle thefts which have gone unreported.
