Two inter-State wildlife poachers, who were also involved in illegal trading of wild animal body parts, were arrested from a lodge at Rayagada town of Rayagada district. According to inspector in charge of Rayagada police station, Tapan Kumar Mohanty, who led the raid, the two arrested persons were Bhajan Pardhi and Bharu Durve from Madhya Pradesh. They were allegedly involved in killing of tigers in various sanctuaries in different States and were sending the skin, bone and nails of tigers to international market. Recently they were involved in poaching of tigers in Melaghat Tiger Sanctuary in Maharashtra. Forest officials of Maharashtra were searching for them. According to Mr Mohanty, after production at the Rayagada court the two poachers were handed over to the forest officials from Maharashtra.
