Governors of Lakes, Warrap and Unity States have convened a meeting in Rumbek to find solutions to escalating cattle raids across their borders.
The three day meeting is aimed at addressing cross-border insecurity and the development, said Akech Tong Aleu, Warrap’s deputy governor.
“We have come to get the solution for the issue of cattle rustling which is happening in these three States, between Lakes State, Warrap State and Unity State, this one we call that area Triangular area,” he said.
“These people who are in that area are not feeling in peace, so we need a solution because there is a lot of causalities. There is a lot of looting and all these. We are coming to unite our hands as a government and then we faced the looters who are creating a problem within the three States.”
The meeting is organized by the governments of the three states with support from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.
