The Kenya Wildlife Service has asked Coast residents to protect marine life by keeping beaches clean.
KWS and the Kenya Association of Women Police said marine life is a source of income.
They were speaking at the Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach during a clean-up on Saturday.
Mombasa Marine Park and Reserve warden Jane Gitau said the service is dedicated to rehabilitating broken corals and shells.
KWS conservationist Aden Mohamed said turtles come to lay their eggs at the beaches.
