Cape Town – A new nude calendar featuring steamy game rangers of South Africa and Botswana in nothing but their boots has rhino-lovers (and probably poachers, too) raising an eyebrow...
In an attempt to create awareness about the rapidly declining numbers of rhinos, an African trading company called Natural Causes teamed up with photographer Josie Borain to create a nude game ranger calendar called “Rangers for Rhinos”.
Although Borain said in an Expresso interview on SABC that the nude shoot was comfortable and fun, she turned blood red when the nude men's photographs was shown in studio.
In the calendar, ripped rangers strike strategic nude poses in their natural habitat – the veld – to show their support for saving the rhinos. Although playful and sexy, the rangers bare all for a very serious cause as rhino numbers are at an all time low.
South Africa lost more than 1 000 rhinos to poaching in 2013, and up until July 2014, another 500 rhinos was poached. The Kruger National Park has seen the worst decline in numbers, as more than 350 rhinos have been poached since January 2014, reports The Guardian.
The majority of funds raised by the calendar will be donated to two South African charities, namely the Game Rangers Association of Africa, and Resource Africa, who will use the funding to keep rhinos from being poached.
The nude calendar has been a bit hit so far. All first publication copies sold out, and the second “Rangers for Rhinos” is currently being printed and sold to eager buyers. They’re sold at R150 per piece and can be ordered from the Natural Causes website.
