STEVENSVILLE - Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are seeking information about a mule deer buck that was poached and then abandoned near the railroad tracks just behind Stevensville School.
An anonymous caller reported finding the deer on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 11. Game Warden Justin Singleterry investigated the scene and found that the deer had been shot, field dressed and antlers removed. All the meat from the deer was wasted. The deer appeared to be killed within the past few days and dumped behind the school within the last 24 hours.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to a conviction.
